Introducing the Beefree and AI Manifesto

We've published the Beefree and AI Manifesto, which sets out how we build with AI across Beefree SDK and Really Good Emails. The idea behind it is that AI should help people create better content at scale while keeping them in control. Alongside three guiding principles, it includes a clear commitment to put them ahead of speed to market.

Read the Beefree and AI Manifesto.

Why did Beefree write an AI manifesto?

Since 2014, Beefree's mission has been to help more people create good digital content, especially email. Over the years, what counts as good has expanded to include following brand guidelines, fixing problems, and producing more accessible content. Really Good Emails added another dimension, celebrating work that inspires others through its email gallery, research, events, and community. AI can widen that definition again, and we wanted to be clear about how we use it.

The need for that kind of clarity came through in the 2026 RGE Survey. Most respondents (64%) already use AI in their workflow, yet the most common thing they said would make it practical, chosen by 53.5%, was confidence that the output is accurate and safe to send. We looked at the rest of the findings in a separate article.

What are the manifesto's three principles?

The manifesto aligns Beefree with Human-Centered AI, a discipline focused on AI that amplifies human abilities rather than displacing them. From that broad field, we chose three principles to act as our constitution, and each one shapes what you can expect from our tools.

Collaboration between humans and AI. AI takes on parts of the work, like understanding natural-language requests or spotting problems against the rules you set, while quality, judgment, and creative direction stay with you.

Explainability and traceability. We design AI so you can understand how it reaches its suggestions and see what it generated, what a person changed, and what was left untouched. With that visibility, you can stand behind the content you send.

Human accountability. A person always owns the final result, and where supervision is required, by law or otherwise, we build it into the process and keep a record of it.

What is Beefree committing to?

In its final section, the manifesto describes Beefree's direction as a human-centered, AI-augmented content creation platform and makes a commitment about how we'll get there. As we explore new AI capabilities and bring them into our products, we will prioritize alignment with these principles over speed to market.

We've chosen not to publish an AI roadmap alongside it, because our plans will change as the technology does. Putting the principles in writing instead means anyone who uses our tools can hold us to them.

Will the manifesto change over time?

The manifesto is a living document. Its principles reflect what we believe today, and we expect them to evolve alongside the technology and the regulations that shape it. We'll revisit it regularly and openly, and whenever it changes, we'll explain how and why.

Who created the manifesto?

The document took shape over several months with input from across the Beefree team, and the writing was led by Massimo Arrigoni, CEO of Beefree. It also builds on a conversation we started when we first brought AI into our tools.
